All I really knew about Taiwan was this: They speak Cantonese here There’s a really tall, really cool looking tower somewhere in the city This would be the starting point of our epic 30 day rampage of our 6 country tour of Southeast Asia. So after figuring out how to get to my hotel from the airport, I head out to meet my friend and his impromptu tour guide at Taipei 101. And when I arrived at the foot to the Taipei 101, this is the sight I was greeted with: Before We Step Inside, A Little History About Taipei 101 TheĀ Taipei 101, which was originally called the Taipei World Financial Center, was the tallest building in the world from its opening in 2004, all the way up until the opening of the Burj Khalifa in 2010.
